High Holidays

(Scroll down for schedule of services)

The High Holy Days are upon us again. Every year at this time people of the Jewish faith are asked to our reflect on our life and initiate positive change. Agudas Achim of Livingston Manor welcomes all who wish to share this season of introspection and faith to join with our community in prayer and reflection. We encourage all who feel drawn to faith to worship with us at this holy time. Join us for the soul piercing blasts of the shofar as we reconnect to our heritage and be drawn to closer to God. Our community in the midst of initiating changes to improve our historic synagogue and make worship more meaningful.. We will also plan to provide special experiences open to the public. Those who choose to join with us are asked to make an appropriate donations to Agudas Achim to help us fulfill our mission to be an open and welcoming community.

Agudas Achim is affiliated with the Union for Reform Judaism. However preserving a traditional feeling to our services is very important.. Rabbi Fredric Pomerantz will lead Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur services with the assistance of Sheree Kane-Graeber, our Cantorial Soloist. His warm personality and her beautiful music will help create a special opportunity for introspection and atonement during the Days of Awe. Our historic synagogue helps create a spiritual atmosphere which enhances the prayer experience. Rabbi Pomerantz is beginning his eleventh year as the spiritual leader of Agudas Achim.

The congregation conducts an annual non-perishable food drive to benefit the Livingston Manor food pantry. Donations should be brought to services. We join with other Reform congregations which hold similar drives to remind us of our obligations to those less fortunate. We also hold a communal Yom Kippur break-fast.
