Worship

Prayer is a language that each of us speaks and hears in a different way. When we pray together, we try to find meaning within our diverse voices. Rabbi Pomerantz challenges our comfort zones through his engaging sermons and stimulating teachings, and shows us how the lessons from the past are relevant to our lives today. The music provided by our cantorial team members at services creates a special environment for our worship. Their leadership sparks our soul and provides the atmosphere for a more enjoyable and meaningful experience,

Our historic sanctuary, in its simple beauty creates the perfect environment for meaningful prayer. Upon entering, the worshipper is immediately connected to our history and Jewish tradition. Children are always encouraged to attend. We believe that by bringing generations together our prayer environment is enhanced and a sense of family enriches us.

Our services are fully egalitarian (men and women participate equally). We believe we have found a healthy balance between the traditional and the creative. Services are a blend of Hebrew and English. We use both traditional and contemporary melodies. People who attend vary from those with Orthodox backgrounds to Jewish by choice and those who question God’s existence. It is our shared prayer experiences that unites us as a congregation and with all Jews past, present and future.
